We are. We are setting up test configurations for them to test. I'll ping them and see where they are at.

Hi Don
Just wondering if you are working with Elsevier on this defect? We have heard nothing at all from either OCLC or Elsevier since we reported the problem ten days ago.
An update on the current status would be very helpful...
Thanks,
Vivien

As anybody cracked this yet? I've had a look, and added a few more hosts and some find and replaces, but no luck for me. I don't know if, before the update, Elsevier used the adobetag.com website? I can see that the following (horrible) javascript file is called:
www.adobetag.com/d1/elsevier/live/sciencedirect.js
I have added www.adobetag.com as a HJ, but the hostnames within the javascript are not being rewritten, plus there are mis-spellings such as www.sciencediret.com in there. The file is a little too unwieldy for me to have a proper look at it, especially when it might not be the solution/problem.

You also need to have an up-to-date Java plug-in (SE7 U67 works for me) or the download pop-up will not ask for permission to run at all. Browsers will deactivate the Java plug-in when it's out of date due to security concerns.
I downloaded more than one file but I need to add the new domain to test whether EZproxy is still compatible as the new quosavl.com domain slips out of the proxy session.
As for Scopus's journals comparisons, this works for me inside a proxied session without changing the stanza.
I don't have the most up to date Elsevier configuration, however. I still have a triplet of stanzas in this order: SciVerse Hub, ScienceDirect, Scopus. I'll play around on our test server tomorrow but I suspect we only need to add DJ quosavl.com
As Vivien states, the ScienceDirect download is broken. The error message is from the host services.elsevier.com -- I have DJ elsevier.com in my stanza so I suspect some work on the Find/Replace directive may be necessary. Another thing for tomorrow...

I just checked on the ScienceDirect download manager (for multiple PDFs). I'm afraid that for us the download page always fails generates that "page not found" error, regardless of whether it is proxied or not. The page in question has this address:
http://services.elsevier.com/SDWebExport/export/pdfdownload/pdf
Although I did have to add a line HJ services.elsevier.com to our config to get the address to proxy, I'll repeat that we get the same failure to load whether it's proxied or not.
So my guess is that it's a functionality problem, not strictly an EZproxy conflict. Elsevier has a venerable history of screw-ups with their PDF download functions; at least the option to download single PDFs is still working correctly.

The "Compare Journals analysis tool in Scopus" is part of a wider EZproxy problem on the Elsevier sites as a result of a recent platform upgrade.
After the weekend's platform update I was asked by Elsevier tech support to test the new "Download Manager" function to see if there were any problems:
"With the newest release of ScienceDirect, I would like to share that the Document Download Manager (DDM) in ScienceDirect has been updated in its functionality (utilising Javascript compared to the previous Quosa DDM).
Therefore I would like to seek your confirmation if you are now able to utilise the Document Download Manager successfully to download multiple PDFs."
When we tested the new Download Manager (DDM) in ScienceDirect yesterday morning we found that it doesn't work at all with the EZproxy.
Although the "Download PDFs" window loads correctly with all three browsers (IE8, Firefox and Chrome - screenshots attached), when you click on the "Download" link you receive a "Page Not Found" error. If you do not use an EZproxied link then the downloads work correctly.
We are using an expanded stanza from the EZproxy OCLC setup page http://www.oclc.org/support/services/ezproxy/documentation/db/elsevier.en.html and it this obviously needs to be amended for the new functionality.
Elsevier tech support have notified OCLC and asked for help, but if anyone on the list is able to assist with an immediate solution it would be greatly appreciated!

Vivien

From what I can tell, Scopus's download manager (QUOSA) is working in the same way as before -- you may need to add a new domain
DJ quosavl.comYou also need to have an up-to-date Java plug-in (SE7 U67 works for me) or the download pop-up will not ask for permission to run at all. Browsers will deactivate the Java plug-in when it's out of date due to security concerns.
