Hello,

my colleague reports me some troubles encountered with ezProxy. I've seen septembers exchanges which was based on issues with link button in EBSCO interface. This is another error that we would avoid.

Thanks for help.

Bruno Ménette.

Dear all

We encounter a recurring problem with the use of Ebsco Discovery services (EDS) in conjunction with ezProxy.

The EDS sessions keep on being unstable, resulting in the message "A System Problem has occurred", like this :

These error screens seem to appear randomly, but with a quasi-certainty when the session has been inactive for 2-3 minutes or more.

We asked Ebsco to have a look at their own log files to detect some information, but our interlocutors in France seem to have a hard time getting this from the sys admins in the US.

So far, the suggestions made by Ebsco did not solve the issue :

1. Stick closely to Ebsco recommendations regarding ezProxy configuration, as documented here :
http://support.ebsco.com/knowledge_base/detail.php?id=6775
http://support.ebsco.com/knowledge_base/detail.php?id=5754
did not bring any significant improvement. Only a few declarations were missing anyway.

2. Another suggestion, was to proxify only the start page :
http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx
Because we need to keep every URL related to e-resources consultations for internal reasons (statistics through ezPAARSE -- did you know?* :-)), this solution was not desirable ; we tried anyway to be sure, but it didn't solve the issue.

We have to precise this problem is only present when using EDS, and not any other Ebsco product (be it an EbscoHost database or AtoZ/Linksource, since we have them all).

Did anyone encounter the issues mentioned here? Any ideas or suggestions would anyway be appreciated.

Hello Bruno and all.

Yes, we are experiencing exactly the same problem. I reported it to EBSCO on 8th October 2014 but I have not yet had a reply from them.

It’s causing our users significant problems as so much traffic goes through our Discovery interface.

Paul
